because in French his name sounds very much like Inferno, and because he has such red hair. He thinks it's a fine joke. Bless his little heart. I wish you could see him. He wears long trousers, of course, which is done by most boys of his age here, and he looks so pathetic in them, because he is so little and thin. He said yesterday he couldn't go to the luncheon because he hadn't another suit, and the one he wears is too shabby - which is quite true. I won't the boys to buy him one. It wouldn't cost much for each one, if they'd all give something, but of course it is only one more case of American charity to French, which is so un-appreciated. Most of the boys have a place for every sou they earn. I know we have. Yesterday we had tea at the Continental Hotel - all the Tribune "wives" were guests of Mrs. Sanborn.
