Dec. 31st '19. Dearest old Dooley,-- This has simply got to be a cry down your neck. I'm so blue and upset in every way today that I can hardly stand it, and poor you -- you've got to be the goat, because I believe I'll feel better if I drizzle a little. The past few days have been pretty bad -- I suppose because it's the equivalent to my "sick-times." If I didn't have the best husband in the world I don't know what I'd do. Honey, it isn't my condition that worries me, because we are so wildly happy over the prospect of a baby. But sometimes I feel that I can't stay in France another minute -- and this is one of the times. Most of the time I manage to be cheerful and happy because I know I must. I get out and walk lots, but I don't seem able to judge distances well and i'm all the time going too far, getting all tired out and then being ill a good bit of the night. Of course this period of
