Twenty-four pages of entertaining articles, features, and fiction with colorful illustrations by lino-block. Chris raps the NFFF and Tucker gives the low-down on doings in Los Angeles in this neat and readable cargo of stefish shenanagans. ... Are you getting [title underlined] Ember, Donn Brazier's weekly hekto-sheet? If not, 'tis worth investigating. Fan news and doings, plus scientific and Fortean items for those what likes 'em. 5c per from 1329 N. 33d, Milwaukee, Wisc. ... Somewhat on the weird side (in more ways than one) is another Milwaukee offering, [title underlined] Fantasy Illustrated, from Bob Stein, 514 W. Vienna Ave. Contents mostly comprised of pictures -- some excellently drawn examples of the possibilities of hekto art, others ghastly smears that shouldn't happen to a dog. This one is a fanzine collector's item. ... Probably the most educational of the current crop is Dale Tarr's [title underlined] Science-Fiction World. The new issue features an editorial that tells you how you can make a workable mimeo out of a discarded paint can; elsewhere in the same number, one George MacKaily proposes a new system for beating the races by picking horses with scientifantastic names! A dime to 1402 Scott St., Covington, Ky. will get you this item. ... [comic on right side of page; stick figure reading the magazine VAMP with a "?" thought bubble.] [title underlined] Fantasmia from Tom Jewett, 670 George St., Clyde, Ohio, is a nickel newcomer. Six pages of amusing stuff by the editor, and pleasant tho diminuitive. ... Another newcomer worth latching onto is [title underlined] The Mutant, from Ben Singer, 3243 Monterey, Detroit 6, Mich. Nothing world-shaking, but blamed good for a first effort. ... Try [title underlined] Lunarite Weekly, a professionally printed cardzine from John A. Keel, by the way, is planning a large booklet of fan material (printed) to go on sale early in '47. If interested, drop the guy a line. ... A must for all serious stfans is [title underlined] The Scinetifictionist (Henry Elsner, 13618 Cedar Grove, Detroit 5, Mich., 10c). Issue #6 features good critical material by Boggs, Norm Stanley, and Coslet, 5 1/2 pages of fan letters, and a dittoed cover by Cockroft. ...
