50. Science Adventure Stories *********************************************************** "Where are you, my dear?" he called anxiously. "Damn that moon cable! Why couldn't they leave things alone, then we wouldn't all be dead in a few minutes!" He dosed his eyes again. "What's the matter with you, Van Quirk?" asked the voice. "Come now, get up. the Masons will be over here any minute now, and you aren't even dressed yet." "My dear, after the moon hits us, we'll never be bothered by the Masons or anybody else." "Are you crazy? Now get up!" He felt someone get hold of his arm and pull him to his feet, and he opened his eyes once more and looked about him. He was in the living room of his own home! He said nothing, just stood there with a silly, vacant look on his face. His wife was standing there before him. "Why do you always go to sleep when we are expecting company? Now march upstairs and get dressed!" Asleep! He looked about him again and burst out laughing. The lamp cord was tangled around his body -- the cable! It had pulled the lamp down into his face -- and that was the falling moon! It had all been nothing more or less than a good old fashioned nightmare. But his class was never told about that dream, resulting from their argument! THE END
