Saving...
SO THIS IS VENUS By Lin Carter I A sleek metal thing with stubby wings / And a tail of roaring flame, / Hurtling down through creamy clouds / Then down thru misty air / With cloudbank fading behind. / Thundering to ground, / On roaring under-jets. / Man's first attempt to reach Venus / Is successful. This is the first / It will not be the last... II So this is Venus -- / Primevil jungles, tangled and green; / Sprawling oceans, teeming with life; / Sodden swamps and soaring mounts; / Sultry heat and cloudy sky -- / So this is Venus... III Yes, this is the Venus of today. / But I...I can see the Venus of Tomorrow. / I can see the day to come / When man shall level the jungle / And raise their cities, tower and spire / Soaring to the sultry sky; / When men shall throng the seas / With mighty ships / And fill the skies / With rocket-flame. IV Yes, that will be the Venus / Of Tomorrow. / Built with the courage / And the valor / And the strength / Of the Venus / Of today... END
