Somewhere in England. Dear Boss, Thought I would drop you a line and tell you what a grand job the American Red Cross is doing for us G.I's. The Red Cross has opened an Aero Club here and the boys really appreciate it. The Club is nicely furnished and has a nice library. We get real hamburgers, coffee and cokes, among other things. The Red Cross directors and staff members go out of their way to make us comfortable. During the day they bring us free coffee and doughnuts. The other night, during a rush, our top sergeant, master sergeant, a couple of staff sergeants and I washed dishes. (Back to K.P. days.) Oh yes, we had real pancakes! It is a grand deal and you folks at home are putting your money in a real outfit. The Aero Club also sponsors all kinds of activities and the boys sure go for them. Almost every night I go to the Club IT is a nice place to relax - have a coke and, hear good music. I believe in giving credit where it is due and I can't say too much for the Red Cross work here in England. We are very disappointed about the strikes at home. I'll bet the boys in Africa, Alaska, Australia and here would like to have John l. Lewis with them for only 34 hours. He couldn't stick it out any longer than that. Please give my regard to the gang.
