MR. W. EARL HALL, MASON CITY GROUP GAZETTE MASON CITY, IOWA. LT. COL. HARLAN MILLER, 0269848 PRD SHAEF, APO 757, U.S. ARMY c/o P.M. N.Y. PERSONAL 3 March 1945. Dear Earl, It's a deal. I accept the diplomatic proposal in your letter, which reached me only recently, to call off the exchange of journalistic sniping with which we enlivened the pre-war tedium. There isn't going to be much tedium the rest of our lives, I think you and I can have more fun working together for the things that have to be done, and having an occasional quiet drink with an exchange of reminiscences. I saw Captain Kohl just before he returned to the States. While I was in America I mentioned Harrison to President Harmon of Drake University as a possible lumni secretary. I think he would make a good one for Drake, particularly if he adopts, as I suggested to him, a two highball limit when he is within a thousands miles of the camput.
