Saving...
Mayen, Germany. 26 September 1920. Dear Karl: - It did me a lot of good to get your letter the other day, and to learn of your volume of business. Hope that it keeps on getting better and better. Is Step Swisher located in Des Moines now? Did Magdalene say what she is planning to do this winter? I've heard she is pretty well fed up on teaching and is going into some other field. I'm s'prised at Bob Masson teaching again. From his attitude when we were in the Thirty-sixth together I judged he was through teaching. Is Lucile back at Dubuque again? How about some wedding bells? Thanks for the suggestion about a deal in the insurance game. That might be something for me to grab at later on. Right now I'm saving a little money and seeing Europe a little at a time so don't plan to resign right away. Twenty-eight hundred, overseas pay; is better than I could do on the outside for sometime. What is Neil Adamson doing in Cedar Rapids and how long has he been there? Have you any news about Carolyn? I'm still looking for "that girl" you asked about, although I don't spend much time on the search. I don't suppose I'll ever find her, now, as my requirements keep growing. How is your search progressing? Do you know where Demaree Ress is and what he is doing there? I haven't heard from him since he left Egypt. I've got another job now - Sales Commissary Officer. We are crowded for room and are short handed but occasionally sell well over a thousand dollars worth of stuff a day. We handle fresh meat, groceries, shoes, clothing, and equipment. The job is interesting, and my property responsibility runs up to a pretty high figure
