appointed in me for taking up with Kipling's "Great God, Nick o' Tine". You know, I never have been - mind high school days - a total abstainer from tobacco, altho for the sake of my boys I never made a practice of smoking on the street. Up here I found so many times when there were a few minutes with nothing - absolutely nothing - to do that I have been led to fall back on Nick as a true friend. He does give relaxation and I defend him, altho I am sorry if you feel that I have fallen down when put to a test. We've had a pretty well filled day without any drill today. This morning we had a Field Day in honor of the Liberty Loan and this afternoon our regiment took part in a big L. L. parade in
