October 25 Dear Miss Williams - Twice in succession! I hope you don't mind. enclosed are a couple of clippings tearings from "Life." One you won't like and the other is to counteract what was prob'ly a mistake in the last paragraph of my last letter. I really am not so down and out as that might indicate. You perhaps know that I have moods. That the situation is one that requires all my optimism. - What with Vesta telling me that she'd "like to hear about army life if I'm not pushing up daisies," cheerful thought. But that is a pleasant way to put it, isn't it? Much nicer than pushing up potatoes for Bosches any way, I'll admit.
