Nov. 2, [1917] Dear Miss Williams - Your letter just arrived and I am glad that you thot my letter was "all right." My poor old alleged brain was surely in a muddle for a few days. I'm not perfectly sure now just what I said, but if it was anything I shouldn't have, I apologize. Various contributing factors helped me back to normal - decent weather, harder work, a letter or two, Sarah Bernhardt, and the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, for example. The chief trouble was the weather, I think, for it kept us from doing any drill to speak of for a good many days. I've worked out a scheme to beat
