Saving...
It seems likely that thousands will die under our flag before our people begin to realize the seriousness of the situation. If it is necessary for me to be crucified on America's righteousness (?) I will feel well repaid in the thought that I am helping to arouse in the land a new spirit, broader in its scope than the stock market, and of this new spirit will help (?) in the land for a generation or two it will be worthwhile, I think, for a good many of us youngsters to pay the full price for an America not only possessing high ideals but with the will to realize them. Of course the war sometimes seems almost too great a price to pay for the possibility of such a future, but at other times I almost feel the design in it and know it is so, I must not run on so. Have just heard Dr. Patrick's article on Courage & Fear. Do you suppose I could get a copy of it from him if I'd ask for it? I feel funny about actual combat, hand to hand fighting, you know. I'm afraid I'll be scared and I;m crazy to prove that I won't be. Psychologize that. Hoping to see you Sunday, Bob.
