February 28, 1918 Dear Miss Williams, It was a real disappointment to me not to see you after Sesphers (?) Sunday before last. I stood at the north door of the auditorium looking for you until almost everybody had gone. I did want to thank you for lending me the binoculars. They came just before i left the post for my week and in Iowa so that I haven't had an opportunity to try them out, as I have been in the hospital since noon the day I returned. It seems that my premonitions about [illegible] were well formed, but my constitution and bylaws (?) are designed to keep germs from dominating the assembly, so that my jaws were as sore Sunday as they were permitted to get and the more serious
