I like that city better than anything I've seen in the East. There are more pretty girls, or rather should I say the general average of the girls is higher, than any town I know of. This may not be genreally believed but a good friend of mine and former company commander who is with me agrees most heartily. We missed our train to Washington at Philadelphia and stayed an extra hour and a half there, after we had been to see the State House, mint, "and etc." while in Philadelphia I made myself a present of the cutest little, ugliest little, bow-leggedest, wrinkle-nosest, kinky tailed baby brindle English bull pup. I wish you could see it. I paid five dollars down to hold it till I call next week as it would be as much bother as a baby while I'm on leave, but I sure will enjoy that pup up at Devers. I'll take some snapshots & send 'em to you. "That pup" is the ugliest, awkwardist, prettiest little mite you ever saw. I hope your dogs are enjoying life properly. I'll bring mine to call some time if you're not afraid. Hoping that everything goes well with "the family", I am Sincerely hoping you a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year. Lieutenance Bob
