P.S. August 24. We seem to have some sort of extra sensitive communication for I notice that the date of your letter is the same as that of this one that I didn't mail. Very interesting isn't it? I note also that your letter answers 3 of the 3 questions I wrote and asks the questions I answered. If we didn't know that it was because we know each other we could get all stirred up about telepathy. Anyway it makes a good enough example for an elementary class. After writing this letter I decided that it created an unnecessarily hazy impression of my plans and had decided to rewrite it but just to show that I had written before I heard from you I'll send it on. This is another rainy Sunday here. In this country they have two rainy seasons, one is the warm rainy season which lasts from April till November and the other is the season of cold rains lasting from November to April. The rains are not very long, seldom lasting more than eight or ten hours without a break but they are frequent enough so that I'll bet there aren't two consecutive weeks in the year that don't have at least five rainy days. I had a rather narrow squeak last week during machine gun company drill. I was acting as mule leader for the gun cart of our squad. We were double-timing out of action with lots of pep when my mule began to close in too much to the left. As he was
