PHILADELPHIA B. F. KEITH'S October 31st 1 AESOP'S FABLES & "TOPICS OF THE DAY" - Good LADY ALICE'S PETS - (10 mins.) Very pretty opening number. Especially pleasing to women. and children. HAIG & LAVERE - (10 mins.) Held the spot very well. The whistling of one of the boys is especially good and along with the music and comedy talk they did very well. WILL M. CRESSY & BLANCHE DAYNE - (23 mins.) "The Man Who Butted In" First appearance here in more than two years and a decided hit with a very good rural comedy sketch of the usual Cressy type. Is well played, as usual, and very well received, getting a lot of laughs. JOHN STELL - (24 mins.) As expected he was a tremendous applause hit, one of the biggest of any single singer we have played and his popularity with the general theatre-goers makes him an extraordinary vaudeville card. He could have sung his entire repertoire had time permitted. DORIS HUMPHREY DANCERS - (18 mins.) A real dance classic of the Ruth St. Denis type, nicely staged and very well executed. It added a touch of color to the bill and was warmly appreciated. HARRY & ANNA SEYMOUR - (18 mins.) Although we played this act during the summer it repeated very well as Miss Seymour is a staunch favorite here. HENRY SANTREY AND ORCHESTRA - (33 mins.) The bringing back of this act which we played in August was no mistake. With a change of songs and his newly organized band he was a big applause winner. A strong drawing card. HENRY SANTREY & ANNA SEYMOUR - (13 mins.) Following Santrey's act he did a short comedy bit with Miss Seymour in "One" and got over fine. They have improved the bit since we last saw it. BOB PENDER TROUPE - (13 mins.) A good novelty, unlike anything we have yet played, and did extremely well in the closing position, holding the audience almost intact and getting its share of the applause and laughs. PATHE NEWS - Usual average of pictures. GENERAL REMARKS - This was not only a very good "name" bill but a splendid show, playing smoothly and with several solid hits. Got off to a flying start with a capacity house and pleased generally, on genuine merit. -o-
