CRITICISM OF SHOW. KEITH'S NEW THEATRE, PHILA. SEPT. 5TH. 2. 8 VASSAR GIRLS--Eight very attractive young ladies, presenting a musical and spectacular act that can be classed with the very good, at least for this house. The girls open in one with horns, and later go to full stage, where they continue with the music and afterward do a very pretty maypole dance, wearing illuminated costumes. A very pretty act. 20 mins. Cut Garden in 4. PEWITT--The mysterious face. First time in this city. It is an enormous head, made of some elastic material, that is worked by someone within. It depicts anger, scorn, irony, contempt, etc., at command. The head, after working three minutes, got out of order, and we had to drop the curtain. The audience went out disappointed. MONTGOMERY & PEARL--Two men, one working straight, one blackface. Musical comedy act, playing harp, drums, cornet and viola. A good three-show act, but all acts are doing two shows here this week. 20 mins. C.D.F. in 3. HERBERT'S DOGS-Twenty five dogs--all kinds and sizes. Very good act. The feature of the act is a dog that runs around a six foot loop-the-loop, which is carpeted on the inner surface. Good billing feature. 14 mins.-Landscape in 5. WHELAN & SEARLES--Man and woman, talking act in one, man is made as German comedian; woman working straight. Very ordinary talking act. 16 mins. in one. H. A. DANIELS.
