48 New York Show, Week of October 26th--2. YRR -2 -ELFIE FAY.--In comedy singing. Miss Fay, as usual, made a big hit here, although I suppose she goes stronger in this house than in any other. The feature of her art is, of course, her song "The Belle of Avenue A," and it is a distinct and pronounced hit. She is with the combination for the [season?] so that I can only have her in this house. 11 minutes in one. YHR-2-CHAS. BRADSHAW& CO.-- Consisting of Mr. Bradshaw, one other man, and two women in a farsical sketch entitled "Fix in a Fix." [???] the old act of "[Oscar's?] Birthday," and in the hands [???] exceedingly funny. The act opens just a little bit quiet, but after the first five minutes it is a laugh until the end. Bradshaw has good support, indeed, especially the old mother-in-law and the [???] man. 28 minutes, full stage. YRR -2-WILL WEST[&?] the Subway Pickaninnies. West is the fellow who made such a hit with the Roger Bros. singing Coster songs, and he is undoubtedly an artist in that line, though personally a don't like him quite as well as W. H. Gould. In a song in which he represents a Coster laborer he introduces eight young boys made up as Irish men and with picks over their shoulders, who sing the chorus with him. That is the sole novelty about his act and the only thing that would recommend him to vaudeville. I hardly consider him strong enough to go over the circuit, although he does very well here, and I think will do still better when I have him placed properly on the night show. 13 minutes; open in one; then to full stage, and close in one. NH -3 -CHERRY & BATES.--Comedy bicyclists. The do a pretty good act, but it is nothing but a 3-show-a-day turn. On account of the illness of Taffary, who was to come over this week with his big troupe of dogs, I had to put Cherry & Bates down at the close of the bill and they are hardly strong enough to fill that position. I am in hopes that Taffary will be all right in the morning so that I can place them where they belong. 13 minutes full stage. HR -3-BIOGRAPH.--They sent us a very extremely bad collection of views this morning, but Mr. Rogers made a pretty stiff "kick," and they made a change which gave us a very satisfactory collection, the principal feature of which was a trip down the Hudson River, starting some where up the stream and coming down by the docks on the New York side. It is quite an attractive view, and in connection with one or two comedy pictures made a very acceptable showing. 17 minutes in one. S. K. HODGDON.
