51 PHILADELPHIA SHOW OCT. 2nd 1906. H.T. JORDAN McGLOIN & SMITH-3-Dancers. Two men neatly dressed. Singing introduced is only ordinary, but the dancing is very good indeed, and brings the act act off to a strong hand. Good three show act. 12 mins. St. in 1 NIBBE & BORDEUX-3-Man and woman in singing and a little talk. Man doing German here for us this week in place of consumptive, which was criticized last week in New York. Fair singers, and have a few bright spots in their talk, which caused laughter. Good three a day act 11 mins. in 1. KILMER & DALY-3-Two men, one doing rube, the other working straight, then going to old maid. Whole act not up to the standard of this house consequently closed them to-day. THE HOLDSWORTHS-3-Man and woman. Banjo players, singers and dancers. Well known on circuit, and always please in this house. Made good and received strong hand at finish. 12 mins. Olio in 1. RICE & WALTERS-3-Man and woman in a little rube sketch, introducing a song and man does a little tumbling work on the order of Rice & Prevost. Held the attention of the audience pretty well today, and may be considered a good act from the three a day standpoint. 15 mins. Spec. in 4. SMIRL & KESSNER-2-Man and woman. The work of these two people is well known on the circuit, and the New York criticism applies here, although I think the act went better with our audience than it did in New York. The dancing of the woman, and the acrobatic work of the man is good, but the work of the dog was most applauded. Talk introduced does not amount to much and is rather rough. 15 mins. C.D.F. in 3. Close in 1. HELEN REIMER-2-Character monologue. This is the second time here for Miss Reimer, and while she is undoubtedly a good character woman in the legitimate, her work does not seem to especially appeal to a vaudeville audience. While she held the attention fairly well, she aroused no enthusiasm, only a few laughs, and scarcely any applause up to the finish when she introduced her laughing song, which she does very well indeed, and which won hearty applause. 17 mins. in 1. CECELIA LOFTUS-2-Imitations. Miss Loftus was a disappointment in a way this afternoon, as she did not by any means arouse the enthusiasm we looked for. The fact that the show ran late, and that the audience was one of the sleepiest we have had this season probably accounts for it. Each imitation was applauded, however, and there is no question but what she will prove a drawing card for the balance of the week. 17 mins. C.D.F. in 2 and close 4 mins. Olio in 1. JULES & ELLA GARRISON-2-In their burlesue entitled, "An Ancient Roman." Second time in this house for this burlesque, which has been elaborated upon since last here, and which is now a mighty good vehicle for laughing purposes only. The work of the Garrisons is well and favorably known on the circuit, and they had no trouble in making good this afternoon on a very late spot on the bill. 23 mins. Spec. JAMES THORNTON-2-Monologuist. James showed up in the best of shape to-day with a brand new song, and some new "Wheezes" His style has always appealed to our audience, and when he is in shape, is as good as the best. Managed to get them laughing to-day. 20 mins. Olio in 1.
