Saving...
(F. J. O'Connor) Boston Show, Week of Oct. 30, 1905: Stereopticon, 3 shows, 10 min. in 1--Showing the usual selection of interesting home and foreign views. The Armstrongs, 3 shows, 11 min. full stage--Three young men, two working straight and the other in eccentric makeup, in comedy and trick bicycle riding. Their trick bicycle riding is good but their comedy is nothing much. It is an excellent act of this sort for the 3-a-day section nevertheless. Farrington and Clarice, 3 shows, 14 min. in 1--Man and woman, singers with a little dancing. Makes a neat appearing act; the man has a fair voice. Not bad by any means, for the early 3 show sectio The Chamberlains, 3 shows, 9 min. full stage--Lasso experst and rope manipulators. Excellent act for the 3-a-day division, but not as good as that of Rogers'. Shungopavi, 3 shows, 17 min. opens in 1, goes to 4, close in 1. Moki Indian medidine man in native monologue and magic. He offered us a new act today with a special drop of his own, and while it was not bad, it was not as good as the old one, which we will have him do th rest of the week. Pantzer Trio, 2 shows, 15 min. in 3--Two women and a man, acrobatic contortionists. Excellent act of this kind that did not get nearly the applause it was entitled to. Marhall F. Wilder, 2 shows, 17 min. in 1--Well-known humorist. He gave us practically a new line of material today and while he got considerable laughs, the manner it came forth from the audience forces me to the opinion that it was entirely out of sympathy. Got a good hand on his entrance and a fair one at the close. Joe Reichon, 2 shows, 11 min. in 3--Exhibiting a wonderfu quartet of acrobatic dogs. There is no question but what it is the best act of the kind we have ever played here. Ryan and Richfield, 2 shows, 24 min. full stage--In the Irish character comedy sketch, "Mike Haggerty's Daughter". Too well-known to need extended comment from me. Went with laughter and applause throughout. Excellent hand at the close. Augusta Glose, 2 shows, 14 min. open in 3, close in 1--In a clever monologue which has been commented on in the other houses. A pretty girl, with a captivating personality, who scored the applause hit of the show up to this point. Excellent act for this house. Good for a repeat. Five Mowatts, 2 shows, 10 min. full stage--Club jugglers. Well-known over the circuit. None that have ever played in this house can compare with this quintet. Glad to have them any time in this house. largely to a difficulty in arrangement. The turns individually are all right and I think on rearramgement, the whole bill will be a satisfactory one. Marshall F. Wilder came to me this noon to register a small kick. I attempted to hold him down, but was put down and cut, when he flashed a contract, the like of which I never knew existed and in which he was to be billed as the "headliner". We had a good afternoon audience and I think we shall keep up the record breaking business of the previous four weeks.
