New York Criticism--Nov. 27th, 1905. ----ooooOOoooo-------- MITCHELL & MARRON: Minstrel Men. One works straight, the other black-face. Made a strong kick for two shows. They have gone backwards since last time. Just about got by to-day and only capable of opening the show. 12 min. in one- 3 shows. LAVINE & LEONARD: Juggling Automobilists: Little tame on the start-off, but got them on the automobile business. Act went just about the same as when last here. 12 min. full stage- 3 shows CURTIS & MAY.: Man and woman. German comedy. Started off very weak. Woman's imitation of Ethel Levy was fairly good. Just about got by in this place. 13 min. in one-3 ALFONSO SYLVANO: Equilibrist. Act was described in previous criticism. All of his work was liberally applauded throughout. 13 min.-full stage- 2 shows MAJESTIC TRIO: 2 men and woman. Colored singers and dancers. The singing is good. The comedy and dancing is excellent. Biggest applause hit up to this time. Excellent three-show act. 16 min. in one. LA VALLEE' TRIO: Instrumentalists. 3 women. Make a very neat apperance. Act consists of a Harpist, Violiniste and Vocaliste. The instrumental work is good. Vocaliste has a pleasing voice,-no great amount of volume. Selections are good. The act was greatly appreciated and is alright if not on too late. 18 min. in two. Could work in one- 2 shows MAY BELFORT: English character comedienne. Neat appearance. Nicely gowned. Sang four descriptive numbers and each one was strongly applauded. 19 min. in one--2 shows FOY & CLARK: In their new spectacular attempt:- "The Modern Jonah." Scene represents the bottom of the sea. The act depends solely on the lines,-no business or situations. Lines are bright with big possibilities. Some of the lines went with a scream, while others fell flat. The act on the whole is thoroughly alright. Received three curtain calls on the finish. 20 min.-full stage WOOD & RAY: Burlesque travesty. One continual laughter throughout. Held the place down in great shape. 14 min. in one- 2 shows JAMES J. MORTON: One big laugh from start to finish, although his act consists of a lot of nonsense which they seemed to enjoy in great shape. This man only does 14 min. Seems a lot of money to pay for such a short act JEWELL'S MANIKINS: Held the attention of the audience throughout with big applause on the finish. Will add another act and move him up further on the bil to-morrow. 20 min.-full stage- KINETOGRAPH: Everybody works but father." Fair comedy. "Phoeby Snow." Good photographically. "The Barnstormers." Good comedy.
