150 Cleveland Show Jan. 8, '06. (H. A. Daniels) KENO, WALSH & MELROSE--Three men. Well known comedy acrobatic act. This act was booked to close the show but owing to the fact that Keno, Walsh & Montrose played in burlesque here two weeks ago and that the acts and names of the acts are similar I was compelled to close with the four Welsons and put this act in their place. It is a good lively act and capable of closing the show in fine shape. Garden in 5. 9 minutes. KATHERINE BLOODGOOD-Vocalist. Three selections, not exceptionally well chosen. Applause by courtesy. Cleveland audiences seem to care little for straight singing in a lively vaudeville show unless the artiste is tricky and works on the style of Mabel McKinley she stands little chance a great deal of applause. Miss Bloodgood's selections were all sleepy, dreamy affairs and every one read their programs. Drop in one. 8 minutes. GALLAGHER & BARRETT--Two men. Send in their billing and were programed to play a modern travesty entitled, "The Stock Brokers". They did a lot of talking and some shooting. One of the men did not know his lines and made a dozen bad breaks, got his words and sentences twisted up and missed his cues. I intend to find out why Cleveland should be chosen to break in a new sketch. C. D. F. in 3. 14 minutes. EDDIE CLARK AND HIS SIX WINNING WIDOWS--Two of them are new ones and had to rehearse all day Sunday. However, the widows have little to do. They sing one song, then Clark gives his specialty, impersonating a race tract tout which consumes about twelve minutes and then the girls do a little singing and dancing that finishes the act. Miss Caroline Richings gives an impersonation of a Hebrew girl and sings the parody "I Have Never Done Nothing to a Body" which was sung here by the Williams and Walker Glee Club. Act closed much better than it opened and succeeded in gaining some sincere applause. 26 minutes. Full stage. MESENGER BOY TRIO--Three boys. Well known on the Keith circuit. As vocalists these boys have gone backwards. They do the same comedy they have always done, but the "close harmony" at times contains many sour notes. Managed to get a little applause. Drop in one. 12 minutes. DOLAN & LENHARE--Man and woman in a sketch, "Taking Chances" sequel to "A High Tone Burglar". A corking good comedy sketch that held the closest atention and created many laughs and liberal applause. C. D. F. in 3. 28 minutes. SYDNEY DEANE & CO.--Four men presenting the vocal novelty, "Christmas on Blackwell's Island". Well known in the Keith houses. Went exceptionally well here today and received very liberal applause. Special drop in one. 20 minutes. FOUR WELSONS--Four men. European rope performers. Some what of a novelty in the athletic line. Nearly all of their work appreciated and applauded. A very good act. Full stge. 11 min. KINETOGRAPH--Christmas Eve. A serial picture of Santa Clause. Very good.
