178 New York Criticism--Feb. 5th, 1906. MIGNON S. AUBURN & CO: 2 men and a woman. In the comedy:- "Making a man." The idea is good although a little rough. Woman just about passes and the men are bad. At the price it is alright for an opener. Cut "Hell." 19 min.-full stage- 3 shows MINNIE HARRISON: Vocaliste. Pleasing personality. Elegant selections. Greatly improved since the tryout. Splendid little singing act. 11 min. in one- 3 ROSAIRE & DORETO: Third week. Received a few giggles from those who have not seen the act with some little applause on the finish. 12 min.-full stage- 2 shows SOMERS & LAW: Conversationalists. 2 men. One working straight and the other eccentric as an automobilist on the style of Dixon & Anger. The voice of one of the men is good, while the other is bad. Their material is new. Scored a few laughs and are alright for an early place on the bill. 15 min. in one-3 REDFORD & WINCHESTER: 2 men. comedy jugglers. These boys are immense. Had them laughing on the start-off. Business is all good and the juggling is excellent. Called forth laughter and pleased throughout. Scored immensely on the apple-throwing from the orchestra. 12 min. full stage- 2 shows LILLIAN SHAW: Character Vocaliste. Received a big lot of advance applause. Got them with her on her first song. Imitation of Kate Barry going very strong. 15 min. in one- 2 shows GALLAGHER & BARRETT: In their travesty:-"The Stock Brokers." The act is just the same as when presented here before. Received a big lot of laughs throughout. Went fully as strong as before. 17 min. (Closed in one about 4 min) HENRY LEE: Impersonations. Some of this man's impersonations fell flat, while others went very strong. Presume he will go better to-night after some of the weaker impersonations are eliminated. 26 min.-full st- 2 KATHERINE BLOODGOOD: Contralto. This woman makes a very pleasing appearance. Has a great voice and good selections. She didn't go as well as on previous occasions, probably due to having too many women vocalists. She is getting entirely too much money. I can get all the straight singing acts the circuit desires for $100.00. 8 min. in one- 2 shows will fill the house, notwithstanding the other special stunts we have on, as it made a great impression. 36 min.-full st- 2 QUIGLEY BROTHERS: Talking comedy. The material used in the opening of the act is entirely new, but did not seem to go. They scored very few laughs until they gave the material of the old act which called forth plenty of laughter. 18 min. in one- 2 3 SISTERS MACARTE: Instrumentalists, Dancers, Wire and Trapeze Artists. Described in previous criticisms. Pleasing appearance. Nicely costumed. Quite novel. Sorry I have to close the show with this act. One of the best of this style we ever had and appreciated throughout. 14 min. full stage- 2 shows KINETOGRAPH: "The Prince of Wales at Lanori." Good. "The Victims of the Storm." Good. Quite novel. "The Deserter." Good, but little serious. "The Fancy Garden Party" Fair comedy.
