65. 125TH STREET THEATRE CRITICISM E. F. ROGERS March 25th, 1907 --ooOoo-- A RMSTRONG & CLARK 2 men. One working straight and the other eccentric, blackface, in a musical sketch, entitled:-"Finding a Partner" Armstrong is quite a clever pianist. Both their voices are good. Received some few laughs for the comedy. Alright for an opener. 22 min.-full stage closed in one about 5 min. MR. & MRS. GENE HUGHES: Presenting the comedy:-"Suppressing the Press" Big applause at the finish. 22 min.-full stage FIELDS & WOLLEY: German comedy. Got them on the start-off. Material is old, but got the laughs, however. 15 min. in one VAN CLEVE, WENTWORTH & "PETE": Van Cleve impersonates the negro, Harry Wentworth, the Dutchman, and "Pete, " the mule. Act made a big hit with the chilren. Van Cleve's bareback riding caught the crowd. Hit of the show up to this time. 12 min.-full stage ORPHEUS COMEDY FOUR: Well known, Rather disappointed in this act. Did not go as well as on former occasions. Secured some few giggles. Comedy just about passed. Left the stage with barely any applause. 18 min. GEO. B. RENO & CO. 4 men and a woman. Company consists of a giant, midget, heavyweight and Reno.They open in one with a woman singing assisted by the men carrying chairs with excellent business, JACKSON FAMILY: 4 men and 4 women. Doing the regulation cycle stunts. Big applause throughout and an excellent closing number. 12 min. KINETOGRAPH: "Cinderella" Rather long. Will take off. Substitute a comedy film.
