125TH STREET THEATRE CRITICISM E.F. ROGERS May 6th, 1907 DORA MARTINI: Gymnast. It is a pity to pay this woman so much money. While her work is fairly good, they passed her by this afternoon. Received some little applause for the revolving work on the high trapeze. 11 min. MURPHY & FRANCIS; Afraid they are going backwards. They did a lot of talking and singing, which does not amount to anything, and doing less dancing which hurts their act greatly. Will try and spruce them up and change them around a little. 17 min. one NITA ALLEN & CO: Presenting the one-act comedy, entitled:-"Car Two-Stateroom One." Quite a novel act. Well represented. Free from any suggestiveness as reported in other criticisms. Secured quite a number of scattered laughs. Held the attention of the audience throughout and they sanctioned it as being thoroughly first-class. Big hit. Closed with three curtain calls. 29 min. full stage-special WILLA HOLT WAKEFIELD: Brought the first genuine applause of the afternoon. Her selections were elegant, each one getting big applause. 10 min. in one WILLY PANTZER & CO: Greatest trick acrobatic act I ever saw. All of their work is far above anything we ever had. Applause hit of the show up to this time. The little fellow made a pronounced hit. While there are one or two weak voices in the act, they do not effect the act to any great extent. Most all of their material was encored. 14 min. in one BERZAC'S CIRCUS: Well known. Laughing hit of the show. 10 min. KINETOGRAPH: "A Runaway Sleigh-bell" Good comedy "Amateur night or get the hook" Good comedy
