33. Report on Columbus, Show, Week Mch. 30th. -- 1908 -- W. W. Prosser. MORRIS & MORRIS: Grotesque comedy act; two men; They do a lots of comedy work on stage and trapeze, none of which is especially good. The finish of the act is the burlesque head balancing work with the aid of an invisable wire, on the order of Collins and Hart, but not to be compared with that of the team named. -- They won a few scattering laughs and the finish was only fair. Wood in 5 -- 12 minutes. KNIGHT BROS. & SAWTELLE: Comedy singing and dancing act; two men, one woman; The same act as of yore except that the woman introduces a German Girl Character which could well be left out. -- This girl in the regular routine of stuff of last season is much better than now. -- The men are O. K. and their work and the straight work of the woman got by very nicely. The act made a fairly good impression and that was about all. Olio in 1 12 minutes. GOLDSMITH & HOPPE: Two men in a comedy musical act. -- The early part of the comedy practically fell flat but the impersonation of the Musical Director by the comedian made good and the act finished strong. They introduce several instruments and the straight man is very good as a cornet player. Terrace in 2 20 minutes. BASQUE QUARTET: Three men, one woman; Straight singing act, using the standard songs and selections with good results. -- The act went very good and the finish was strong. -- The ensemble work is better than the solo and altogether the quartet is a worthy singing number for any audience that takes to legitimate singing. Rocky Pass in 1 12 minutes. FOY & CLARK: The Fountain of Youth: An extravagant comedy sketch that is novel as to idea but which does not work out nearly as well as one looks for. -- The act won some applause but would not be considered as a decided hit by any means. Special set in 5 -- 21 minutes. LEW SULLY: Blackface comedian of reputation. -- Sully failed to arrive in time for the matinee; At the night show he went big and was up to this time the hit of the bill taking three or four calls. -- He patter was well received and won many laughs and his songs owing to his manner of singing them seemed to hit the mark. -- His voice is better by far than that of the average man in his line of work. [17?] minutes; street in one. THE NOVELLOS: Novelty act consisting of acrobats, jugglers, horses, dogs, assistants, etc. -- Great sight act and one that made a positive hit at the matinee but for some unaccountable reason did not go as big at the night show. -- This is an act of unusual merit and I have no doubt but that it will create lots of comment before the week is out. Garden in 5 14 minutes. KINETOGRAPH: O. K.
