39. CRITICISM KEITH & PROCTOR'S 125TH STREET THEATRE MARCH 30 1908 MLLE. AUGUST & CO. Company consists of two men and one women. Presenting the comedy "Mlle. Foulard". Entirely too much money for an opening act and far from being a feature of any sort. Act consists of a little singing, a little dancing and some juggling with a grand stand finish of catching the plates. As an opening act it just about got by. Fifteen Minutes Full Stage. FRIEND & DOWNING Evidently Harlem favorites from the advance applause. Friend's parodies were the usual strong offering of their work. The best part of their material is new and they scored many laughs. Finished very strong. Twenty Minutes in One. HYMACK Some little advance applause. This fellow is certainly a novelty. They paid more attention to his changes than to his patter. Finished very strong. Eleven Minutes Full Stage. AGNES SCOTT Supported by Horace Wright in the playlet "The Wall Between" On account of Miss Scott's connection with the Harlem Stock Company crosstown I presume she will go much stronger here than in other houses. The applause on her entrance was very strong which necessitated her taking several bows. The sketch is very dainty and shows to advantage, Miss Scott's excellent acting Negotiated this place in great shape and better than I really expected. All of her songs are excellent, each one making an individual hit. She was compelled to sing her trademark "The Belle of Avenue A". Eleven Minutes in One. BROTHERS BYRNE Introducing a carriage ride and it's mishaps. Entirely too much money for an act of this nature. Good in spots. Worked very slow. Cannot be compared to the pantomimic acts we have had here recently. Fifteen Minutes Full Stage.
