Saving...
54 TEMPLE DETROIT April 20, 1908. SANDWINAS 9 min. FS. Man and woman in a strong-arm act, woman acting as understand. Not a remarkable act in any way, but quite strong enough to open a show. DONALD & CARSON 23 min. in 2. Close in one. As we stated on a former occasion this is a right good Scotch comedy and singing act. FOY & CLARK 20 min. FS. "The Spring of Youth." Too well known for comment. Was received very well. PAUL LeCROIX. Lost his baggage en route and could not appear. GASTON & GREEN. 17 min. in one. An exceptionally good act for this house. Both are very clever people, and the woman is an exceptionally good singer. The act is entirely away from all others and it certainly should make a hit on any bill and in any theater. ROBERT HILLIARD & CO. 26 min. FS. Hilliard made his usual hit here in "As a Man Sows." He received considerable advance applause, and at the close he was called out a number of times and finally responded with a little speech. Although he is suffering with a cold it did not appear to mar his work. CLIFTON CRAWFORD. 20 min. in one. As was expected Crawford more than made good. That he was remembered was evidenced by the advance applause he received. He gave us some new material, just as good as the old, and would have recited something in place of "[Gunga? Cunga?] Din" had not he been requested to again recite the Kipling poem. WATSON'S FARMYARD CIRCUS. 16 min. FS. This is a very good act for children but I doubt that it makes good with the grown-ups. KINEOTOGRAPH. "The Runaway Horse" is one of the best comedy films we have had in many weeks.
