Report on Columbus Show Week April 27th -- 08.  W. W. Prosser.
66.
DEVOIE TRIO: Three men in a ring act of more than usual merit. -- They do no "stalling" and each trick counts to the utmost. -- Their appearance if in their favor and they scored heavily. -- At the finish they took a call or two. -- Very good act. Palace in 4 13 minutes.
BANKS and NEWTON: Two men in a comedy singing, talking and dancing act. -- They open with a lively song and make a good impression. Both are not afraid to work. -- Their talk makes several good points and they secured quite a number of laughs. -- Their dancing pulled them out in nice shape and the act must be credited with making good. They did exceptionally well considering the fact that the house was very light. Street in one 11 minutes.
DOLAN & LENHARR: Well known team in "Taking Chances" comedy sketch. Many of their points scored but some of them missed fire owing to the fact that Dolan was not to my way of thinking thoroughly understood. By this I mean his method of securing comedy effects. -- He is peculair in his style and I believe he had the house guessing whether or not to take him seriously. -- The act was by no means devoid of merit nor the way it was presented. -- With more of a house I think the offering will go excellently. -- The finish was not especially strong. 30 minutes C. D. F.
McMAHONS WATERMELON GIRLS: The minstrel portion of the act did not go any too well. The girls seemed to lack life and getup and just sort got through and that was about all. -- Looked to me as though they needed some one to liven them up a bit. The watermelon scene relieved the situation before it became really tiresome and the latter half of the act was well received. You could hardly term it a hit however. Terrace in 2 special in 4 19 minutes.
FRED NIBLO. -- A distinct hit. -- Had a time for a few minutes getting things going properly but once he did and many a laugh he scored. Worked like lightening and made one point after another in rapid succession. -- Deserves credit for getting things livened up after the preceding act had dampened the  condition. -- Niblo is clever and one of the best talking acts the house ever had. 17 minutes Olio in one.
AVON COMEDY FOUR: Comedy Quartet with a lot of rough comedy that went but fairly well. -- There were laughs but not of the spontaneous order. Half hearted as it were. -- Their singing made up however and the same was a decided hit. They finished very strong. -- Would say that they should sing more and talk less. Kitchen in 3 close in one 18 minutes.
ERNESTO SISTERS: Three girls in a wire act of merit. -- They work well together and singly. --All of their tricks were well executed and then won applause frequently. This made a very good closing act and they held the spot without any trouble. Garden 10 minutes.
