N. S. HASTINGS. CLEVELAND, OHIO. MAY 11 '08. M'lle Alexandra and Mons. Bertie. In 4, Palace. Time, 8 min. Trapeze and ladder balancing. The act is quiet and refined. Frequent applause. Nothing startling, just pleasing. HIBBET and WARREN. In 1. 2 men. B. F., one comedy, one straight. Great rag time piano playing. Fast soft shoe dancing. Screaming grotesque dancing. A great act of the kind, scoring a big hit. CLEMENT de LION. Time 14. Open F.S. Palace, close in 1. de Lion produces and makes vanish 12 billiard balls, very smoothly and neatly. His comedy is impossible. In 1, he does the old familiar dice in the box disappearing trick. Although he scored a fair hit, the act is to my mind, very ordinary and featureless. EMIL HOCH & CO. C.D.F. 3 men, 1 woman. Time, 18. Presenting "Love's Young Dream." After a very slow and uninteresting start, the sketch developed a great comedy situation which is carried well by the players. They were called back several times. VASCO Worked in 1. Time 21. He easily justified his billing of "the mad musician." His ravings and insane antics form a good comedy background to his undoubted talent in playing 28 instruments almost faultlessly. The hit of the show. "THE GAINESBORO GIRL" Marie Lecea Brackman. Time 13. F.S. Special transparent frame in 2, showing in turn four elaborate back settings with each change of costume by Miss Brackman. This is essentially a singing act, and as such was well received, for Miss Brackman has a well trained and unusually melodious voice. A novelty getting much applause. CLIFTON CRAWFORD. In 1. Time, 20. Songs, dances and talk all new and scored the biggest kind of a hit. His recitation of "Gunga din" for an encore made its usual big appeal. CLERMONT'S CIRCUS. F.S. Time 18. A burlesque circus. Most of the act is high class but there is considerable needlessly wearing junk that should be eliminated. He features exceptionally well trained dogs and ponies in his "straight" entertainment. The act kept the people glued to their seats. THE KINETOGRAPH. 79.
