Saving...
(2) Howard and North. On at 3.40, 17 min, in 1. The same old hit this afternoon. They are to present their new act the latter part of the week. Will send a special report to the Office. Rock and Fulton. On at 3.57, open 3 min in 1, 22 min full stage, close 3 min in 1; 28 min in all. Tried the experiment of closing the show with them this afternoon, and it was eminently satisfactory. They went even stronger than last Monday, when they made one of the most pronounced hits of the season. Rock informs me that both Miss Fulton and himself have signed with Dillingham for a musical comedy production next season, but will have a few weeks open for vaudeville in September and October, and possibly November. He has promised to play one of them in Boston. Kinetograph. On at 4.25, 22 min. "Briarcliff Auto Race"; an extremely good film. "Cide Industry in France"; very good "interest" film. "A Useful Present for a Child"; fair comic. Raven Trio. On at 4.47, 11 min, full stage. One of the finds of the season in the acrobatic line. If this act came from Europe and we were paying it $200 or $250, we would be thoroughly satisfied. It can be booked for next season for $125 to $150, I think, and will probably play parks for $100 to $125. It is certainly wonderful value for any such money. Stereopticon. On at 4.58, 12 minutes. Morgan and Chester. On at 5.10, 15 min, full stage; 3 shows. The only place I would care to play this act is two shows between 6 5 and 7. They present an alleged sketch, the man in Dutch character and the woman playing a maid. It is the pickings from about seven old after-pieces. An act that I don't think Tony Paster would dare headline. Cuts: Howard Truesdell and Co. One Damn. Reference to French professor at Harvard. This was in extremely bad taste, as the case to which he referred is one of the most disgusting that has occupied the attention of our courts in some years. Comment. A very good show indeed. If we were rid of Howard Truesdell and Co., and had a good comedy act in place, we would have a show good enough for any house at any time.
