103. (2) Elsie G. Phelan. On at 3.34, 12 min, full stage. A local girl who has made quite a reputation as a composer and pianist. She presented a pianologue of light, catchy songs, and one instrumental selection, her own march "On The Gridiron". While she will undoubtedly be a hit here this week and draw considerable money, still she is amateurish and I fear is not up to a professional career in vaudeville as yet. XX Six American Dancers. On at 3.46, 15 min, in 1 1/2, special drop. Miss Pearl Danforth, who has been a part of the act since its organization, conceived the idea that this act could not get along without her, and "struck". I am very glad to state that the Misses Lovenberg were ready for just such an emergency, having had another dancer, Evelyn Ramsey, in rehearsal since last Thursday. Miss Ramsey went into the act this afternoon and Miss Danforth was not missed, in fact, Miss Ramsey is bound to be an improvement upon her predecessor. The act made its customary hit, although this is its second week, and it is pretty well down the bill for a hold-over. XX1 Gallagher and Barrett. On at 4.01, 15 min, full stage. The sooner that somebody builds a circuit of theatres for Gallagher, the better it will be for those who are now trying to manage vaudeville houses. He has become an absolutely impossible proposition, and apparently has an incurable attack of elephantus craniosus. After making himself ridiculous with an argument about dressing-rooms, caused by the fact that he is not on speaking terms with his partner, he finally weakened and decided to go on. The disagreement between the partners has hurt the act, and instead of running 21 min, 15 was all they got away with today. The funny part of it is that Barrett can get along without Gallagher better than Gallagher can without Barrett, for if Barrett gets a good straight man the act will not be affected at all. XX Kinetograph. On at 4.10, 30 min. "With the Fleet At "Frisco"; not a particularly good film, from a photographic standpoint, but of course it is highly interesting at this time. "For Kate's Health"; fair comic. Martinez and Martinez. On at 4.40, 14 min, full stage; 3 shows. Can close in 1, if necessary. Fair musical act. O.K. for the continuous and smaller houses. XX Harry Burgoyne. On at 3 o'clock, 15 min, in 1; 3 shows. English coster singer who always makes good in this house, and could hold a spot up to 2.30 and 8.30 without any trouble at all. He could make good as number two almost anywhere, and is worth keeping in mind, because of the fact that he is a safe proposition to put in a bill that promises to be unusually costly on account of some expensive headline attraction. XX1 Cuts:- Burns & McCone. Omit bluff of throwing chair into audience. Bedini & Arthur. Cut throwing paper-plates into audience. Raymond & Caverly. Mention of "Mrs. Gunness", a local judge, and use of "Three Weeks' as a title for their song-book. Comment. A peculiar sort of show, but one that will do as well as a $5,000 bill at this time of the season, for Miss Phelan and Murray & Lane will draw as much as any two headliners that could be booked.
