JUNE 29-08. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C. E. BARNS. HERMAN ADLER & CO. 20 min. Full Stage. This is described as a comedy, but there is only one laugh in it, that is at the close when the Yiddisher husband demands a pair of stolen trousers from the boarder who has stolen away his wife's affections as well as his breeches. In fact, the whole act was a laugh, the finest lemon from Al. Mayer's farm. Closed after first show, but as they had not carfare home, were suffered decent burial in the supper section, at substantial reduction in salary. LORENZ AND YOUNG. 16 min. in one. This act consists of a fair line of talk, some good eccentric piano playing and some real excellent eccentric dancing. Two men, working with the table, chair and piano, all in one. Received fair applause. THE ADERTRIO. 11 min. Full Stage. This is a local act and a good one. Three men work with clubs and knives, often standing two high. good applause after each stunt. One of the best feats is that of the two men standing on the older man's shoulders and back to back, juggling with the clubs. The finish was strong. HENRY D. GARDNER. 12 min. In one. A pleasing entertainer of the parlor variety. His voice is not particularly strong nor his personality very galvanic, nevertheless he held down this spot acceptably with a good line of original stuff. REYNOLDS AND DONEGAN. 9 min. Full Stage. Two of the most expert skaters ever seen on this stage. Costumes are beautiful and their work either single or double is really remarkable. The woman is particularly graceful and pleasing. Good applause. FROSINI. 15 min. in one. This man made a decided hit with all parts of the house. He gets more of an organ tone out of the accordion than any man who has ever played before our audience. The jury did not want to let him go this afternoon, but made him play one encore after another. He is a master of his instrument and could make good anywhere on any bill. EDNA PHILLIPS AND CO. 15 min. Full Stage. This is a highly amusing sketch. Taylor Holmes comes pretty near being the whole thing. It is a mix-up between lovers over a kiss stolen in the Park and a garter lost at the French Ball by the French Maid. There are a good many amusing situations which get a big laugh and their finish was strong. Taylor Holmes puts lots of ginger into his work, and inspires others to do likewise. This act will go anywhere as it stands. MARION GARSON. 9 min. in one. A dainty appearing artist, who sings well. Good selection of songs, all of which pleased. Lacks the magnetism of a real celebrity; however, she held the spot with credit. Closed fairly strong. MAREENA, NEVARRO AND MAREENA. 10 min. Full Stage. Three men, two work straight, one eccentric. Well known on the circuit. Did the same ground-tumbling, table-work and parellel ladder feats as on previous engagement. good hand after each feat, the comedian getting a good many laughs for his comedy and eccentric gymnastics. to give "The Love Waltz" a good deal of space.
