JULY 27-08. PHILADELPHIA SHOW. C.E. BARNS. THE HEALEYS. "Society Artists." 15 mts. F. S. Man and woman making a good appearance and singing acceptably. Good applause at the finish. Could hold a good spot in the three-a-day section. BLANCHE KENSHAW. "The Heine Girl." Pretty girl, singing dialect songs very cleverly. Received a good hand for her work and closed well. 9 min. in one. REED BROTHERS. Novelty Gymnasts. 16 min. Full Stage. This is an excellent act. No two men have made such a hit here since the Belleclaire Brothers. They open in one with some strong men work proceeding Full Stage with pedestal, supporting rings and chains. Their work is novel and artistic much of it never being seen here before. They have evidently been trying to get out of the beaten track and they succeeded very well. Each feat was strongly applauded and the close was likewise. This act would make good anywhere. THE WIORA TRIO. Singers and Dancers. 10 min. in one. These girls appear in fetching costumes. Do the regulation Hungarian [illegible] and song turn very well. Fair applause at the finish. Held the spot well. UNA CLAYTON & CO. Sketch -- "His Local Color." This is a clever sketch, well presented, although a little too long and would improve by condensation. The action turns on the mistaken identity of a dummy model which causes jealousy between an artist and his fiancee. Miss Clayton takes the part of the East Side waif who is mistaken for the model. The winsomeness of the character and the pathos of the story wins the house very strong. This act should go anywhere with a little pruning, so that it runs smoothly. F. HIMMELREICH. Piano Virtuoso. 16 min. in 1 1/2. This young man is worthy of encouragement. From the time he was three years old until recently, he was almost totally blind, and all that he has learned has been by ear He has repertoire of five hundred pieces or more, and plays them with extraordinary expression and technique. He could do 20 mts. very acceptably, but we only gave him 16 mts. The audience gave him a big hand after each one of his selections and demanded more than time would permit. I should not be surprised if he may be a genuine vaudeville feature and at the figure, $100.00, should make good anywhere. THE GAUDSMIDTS. Comedy Acrobats. 8 min. Full Stage. For rapid and skilful work, this act is a sure winner. They are two big men appearing in French clown costume. They have two dogs that are remarkably trained and helped the act very much. Each one of their feats got a big hand and the close was on the strongest that an athletic act has had here for a very long time. COAKLEY & MCBRIDE. Comedians. 17 min. in one. Well known blackface act. Their dancing on the dancing mat won the house. Line of talk is very amusing. Good applause throughout and strong finish. THE NAKED TRUTH. Comic Opera. 40 min. Full Stage. Repeated the success of last week. ELFIE FAY. Comedienne. 9 mts. in one. Made her usual hit. Had some new songs and sang them with irresistible humor. Closed with her well known "Belle of Avenue A" song and a good laugh.
