-2- McConnell and Simpson. On at 3.18, 21 minutes, full stage. While this act was not the riot that I hoped it would be this afternoon, still it went more than well and Miss McConnell proved herself one of the cleverest comediennes we have had here in a long time, although she sang but one song, apparently thinking that the audience did not care for another. This was a surprise to me, as I understand she has been doing three or four at every performance. The act is full of life and will make a distinct success on any bill. Those who have it on their books the coming season, have good reason to consider themselves in luck. XX1 Paul La Croix. On at 3.39, 10 minutes in one. Made his customary success with his bounding hats. Wonderful value at his salary. XX1 Romany Opera Company. On at 3.49. Open in one, 3 minutes, full stage 33 minutes, 36 minutes in all. Can close in one for 6 minutes, if necessary. Fourth and final week of their engagement. They are presenting a programme of gems from various operas, similar in character to their act of last season. I am pleased to say that they scored what was almost a triumph this afternoon, every number being warmly applauded, in fact there was not one that could not have taken a ligitimate encore. Cut down to 12 to 15 singers and a conductor, the act is well worth $700 to $800. At this figure Bevan should be able to furnish all of the really good principals he now has with him. XX1 Kinetograph. On at 4.25, 31 minutes. We are showing this week, some specially taken pictures of salmon fishing, moose hunting and trout fishing in Maine and New Brunswick. These pictures are simply great. We have them through the courtesy of Boston's favorite sportsman, Dr. Heber Bishop. It is possible that they may be obtained for exhibition in other cities. Any one interested can communicate with me and I will be pleased to furnish them with information. The salmon fishing and moose hunting pictures make about a twenty minutes feature, in case the whole series is not wanted. Comment. An extremely good summer show.
