THE PICQUAYS. Acrobats. 9 min. Full Stage. Man and woman making a good appearance in costumes of white and bordered with green. Work on the mat, and also use table and chairs. A good many of the ordinary gymnastic feats, and some of them far above the average. The hit of the act, however, is the hand dancing on a sand-mat with the aid of a pair of long shoes built for the hands, the dance accompanied by lively music. This part of the act got a big round of applause. STELLA MAYHEW AND BILLEE TAYLOR. The Care-free Comedienne. 21 min. in one. Advance hand. Miss Mayhew is certainly a favorite here, and everything she did got good applause. Billee Taylor's work in the orchestra is novel and helps the act. Closed strong. THE VILLAGE QUEEN. Country Boys and Girls. 22 min. Full Stage, close in one. This act has certainly abundance of ginger and go, even if some of the songs are not new. Moreover, the six boys and six girls are for the most part very good vocalists, and all work hard to please. The scene is that of a country yard and the "rube" idea is well carried out in scenery, costumes and in humor. The whole act will go anywhere, and the close certainly would make a great hit. HASSEN BEN ALI'S ARABS. Athletes. 7 min. Full Stage. This great closing act went in the same whilrwind fashion as it has done previously, getting round after round of applause. An act like this puts any audience in a good humor. KINETOGRAPH. I. The Boston Tea-Party. A good historical series, almost as elaborate as the "Days of '61." II. A Trip to Sudan. Interesting travel film. Altogether, the Kinetograph series are up to the standard. LEONARD AND DRAKE. Comedy Imitators. 13 min. in one. Man and woman well known, singing two good songs interspersed with imitations of the cries of birds, animals and other familiar sounds, some of which made quite a hit. Closed very well. BREMA. Magician. 20 min. C. D. Fancy. Does the regulation tricks with cards, drawing colored handkerchiefs, such as have been seen here before. The act would be much improved with a good line of talk, as it moves too slowly without something more to amuse than mere slight of hand. If he would only supplement this dexterity with some jokes, he would be able to hold any spot in the three-a-day section. Fair applause. GENERAL REMARKS. This is an excellent show, well balanced and the people went out thoroughly satisfied. If the weather conditions are only favorable, as they predict now, we should be able to do a strong business.
