Cleveland, O. AUG. 31 '08. Ned S. Hastings. THE GAGNAUX. Man and woman. F.S. Palace. Time 12. Jugglers and balancers. Their work is fast and neat, but goes only fairly well. A great deal of mechanical apparatus used. A good opener. Mc Nish and Penfold. Time, 14. Two men, In 1. One comedy. Singing and talking, only fair. Toward the end of the act, there is a lot of good comedy which brightens things up for a big hand at the finish. EMERIN CAMPBELL & CO. Interior in 4. Time 17. 2 men, 1 woman. Presenting "200 Miles From Broadway." A mild hit with a few good lines and situations. Pleasing, but not a big hit. KINETOGRAPH- FOR 4 MINUTES FOSTER & FOSTER. Open C.D.F, close in 1. 2 men. Time 21. A great comedy singing act. The fun is clean, original, well handled. Both men have excellent voices and their solos and duets brought a riot of applause. 3 encores. WILLIAM FARNUM & CO. C.D.F. 2 men, 1 woman. Time 25. Presenting "The Mallett's Masterpiece." At first the general setting and atmosphere suggest a "tabloid" version of Pygmalion & Galatea.; but original and interesting action soon begins, and the story suddenly shifts to an interesting and plauseable explanation of the creation and disfigurement of the Venus de Milo. The audience "got it", and their attention was riveted. Mr Farnum and his wife received both an advance hand and a big reception after the curtain fell owing to their great local popularity. FRED SOSMAN In 1. Time 15, Character songs. His work seems a little doubtful for a time owing to his eccentric delivery, but he soon got the audience with him and finishes with a terrific hit. He comes very close to being the "best going" act on the bill. REDPATH NAPANEES Plain interior in 4. 8 school desks. 4 boys, 4 girls and Harry W. Fields, said to be a comedian. They are Indians, but they give several war whoops. Songs, and broad knockabout fun. Savors of burlesque and should be tones down. Several raw expressions cut out after first performance. The act might be all right, with half a dozen changes. Close in 1, for 5 min. Total time, 35. MADAM EMMY'S PETS. F.S. 15 min. Pretty setting. Act neat and attractive and tricks all good and out of the ordinary. Comedy dog very good. THE KINETOGRAPH.
