Monday Show, Week of Sept. 7m 1908. Carl D. Lothrop )Monday, Sept. 7th--Evening Show.) Valveno and Lamore. On at 6.57, 10 minutes in one, 3 shows. An acrobatic comedy act that is bound to develop. The little gymnast of the former Valveno Brothers, who is an excellent performer, and a fairly good athletic humorist. The fact that the act is done in one adds considerably to its value. Consider the act well worth from $80 to $100. XX Crenyon. On at 7.07, 8 minutes, full stage, 5 minutes close in one, 13 minutes in all. Ventriloquist who is a brother of Vernon, and pretty nearly as good. He is really a rattling good ventriloquil entertainer. He is playing a trial week here for us for a small salary. I think he can be booked from $80 to $100, possibly less. He should prove a great find for the small houses. Would not hesitate to use him here at 2.30 and 8.15 Mabelle Meeker. On at 7.20, 11 minutes, full stage. Opens with a song and acrobatic dance, then strips to tights and does some excellent contortion work. She makes a very attractive stage appearance after she makes her change, as she has a very fine figure. Her opening costume is not particularly attractive, but she states she has a new dress ordered that will be here before the end of the week. Prefer the act to that of Latina, as Latina is to-day, and consider it about on par with that of Belle Veola. XX Lyons and Parkes. On at 7.31, 12 minutes in one. Two youngsters in character make-ups, one as an Italian, the other as a newsboy. The Italian plays the harp extremely well, while the newsboy sings acceptably, and is a fine dancer. An act that will make good any where. XX1 May Duryea and Co. On at 7.43, 23 minutes full stage. Playing her well known sketch, "The Impostor." Her company is now made up of Joseph Manning, who played the part for the first time to-day. For this reason it is hardly fair to compare him with Deland or Mortimer, but think he will prove thoroughly acceptable. Sketch went particularly well with to-day's holiday audiences. In any town where it has not worn out its welcome, it is a sure fire hit. XX Scott and Wilson. On at 8.06, 12 minutes, in one. An extremely good acrobatic comedy act. The opening with one of them playing the part of a rube in the audience, contains quite a lot of good humor, while their tumbling work is unique. Scored heavily. XX1 Frank Stafford, assisted by Marie Stone. On at 8.18, 15 min. full stage. Could close about 8 minutes in one. Special set. Stafford is as clever an imitator of birds and animals as I have ever heard, and deserves great credit for presenting an act that is out of the rut. He is assisted by Miss Stone, who makes a nice appearance and sings very well, and a beautiful setter dog. An act that will make a hit in any house and thoroughly merits consecutive booking. XX1 Kinetograph. "The Dieppe Circuit Races of 1908." This is a great picture of its kind. I do not consider it as good as last year's. "All for a Bird." An interesting comic. Comment. A very good show indeed, with some highly novel features.
