GRAND OPERA HOUSE, PITTSBURG, PA., Sept. 14th, 08. MARZELLA & WOLF- 10 minutes, wood. Comedy bar act. 3 shows. A very good act for the three a day section. CLARA MOORE- 9 minutes, olio. Singing comedienne, 3 shows. A very bad act. LOWELL E. DREW-Comedian, 3 shows. 12 minutes. Mr. Drew's imitation of Geo. Cohan is the only thing that saves him. This is very fair. SUNNY SOUTH-17 minutes, wood. One of the best colored acts we play VIOLET BLACK & CO.-23 minutes, special set. Sketch "In the Subway". The fact that this sketch is played in a scene representing the subway makes it a novelty. This act gets some laughs but it surely does not commence to be worth the money we pay for it. Mr. Forbes, the leading man is a very bad actor. I consider Miss Black a very clever actress. CARROLL & COOK-14 minutes, olio. Singing and talking act. 14 min. Olio. Aside from the ballad by Mr. Cook, this is a very good act. They could improve the act very much by cutting the ballad out entirely, or using it some place other than the opening. DE DIO- 14 minutes, special. This is a beautiful act, getting better light effects than anything of the kind we have played. LEONIE PAM-15 minutes in one. Grotesque comedienne. When the salary is considered she is an exceptionally clever girl. JULIUS STEGER & CO.-25 minutes, interior. "The Fifth Commandment". This is Mr. Steger's third appearance here and he pleases as well as ever. FOSTER & FOSTER-18 minutes. Opening full stage, closing 5 min. in one. "The Volunteer Pianist". One of the best talking comedy acts we have played in some time. HARRISON & GILES-12 minutes, olio. Almost as bad as Clara Moore. RAFAYETTE'S DOGS- 18 minutes, wood. An exceptionally good dog act. John P. Harris. 146.
