Report on Providence Show, Week of September 28, 1908. Charles Lovenberg, Manager. If it were not for the two headline acts we would have a very good show. The rest of the bill is thoroughly satisfactory, some of the numbers scoring very strongly. Casey & Craney Man and woman, talking and singing, alright for the 3 a day section, but no better. 12 Min. in One, 3 shows. Alexis & Schall Well-known lively contortion and dancing act which is always good in an early spot. 10 Min. in Two, can work in One, 3 shows. The La Belles Comedy jugglers. Very good. Could hold a fairly important spot in almost any bill. 15 Min, open F.S., close in One, 3 shows. The Strawberry Festival Cancelled This act was moved up to this spot from the closing position which it was utterly unable to hold. In fact, in its present spot cannot hold any spot satisfactorily. The idea of the act is good but has been spoiled in carrying out. He promises to cancel his present time and re-construct the act. 25 Min. F. S. 2 shows. Murphy & Francis Well-known colored team which held its own as usual. 15 Min. in One, 2 shows. Four Nightingales Juvenile quartette (following Strawberry Festival) Four clever boys who make a very good appearance and have nice voices. O.K. for an early position on any bill in the world. Would make a big hit in the smaller 2-a-day houses. 15 Min. in One, 3 shows. Inez McCaulay & Co. Following Four Nightingales. In her well-known sketch, "The Unexpected", which seemed to please about as well as ever. 17 Min. F.S. 2 shows. Stafford & Stone A novelty, very prettily presented, which they call "A Hunter's Game". The man does some excellent whistling and imitations and they finish with a duet, the woman singing and the man whistling. Throughout the act a little vein of light comedy. An act that would go anywhere. 17 Min. open F. S., close in One. 2 shows. La Sylphe Oh, dear!--- But what's the use? She'll draw the money and we'll stand the kicks. It is a beautiful example of what easy New York accepts and thinks is good. 18 Min. F. S. 2 shows. Leo Donnelly Story teller and a very clever one. Wish we had a few more acts like his in vaudeville. A decided success with the audience as well as the manager. 15 Min. in One, 2 shows. Blanche Sloan I took a long chance and put Miss Sloan in this position, occupied in the afternoon by La Sylphe. She held it at the night's performance with satisfaction. 8 Min. F. S., 2 shows. Wynn & Lewis "The College Boys". A better act than that given last season. The hit of the show. 18 Min. in One, 2 shows. Mullen & Correlli These men in the afternoon gave me their act in One, going on next to last and the show running late. They made a hit and are qualified to hold that position. On account of the fall down of the Strawberry Festival, they, at short notice, fixed up a Full Stage act for me to close the show and made good in every way. [12?] Min, either in One or Full Stage, and I thank them very kindly. 2 shows. Motion Pictures O.K.
