Report on Columbus show week Sept. 28th. -- 08. W. W. Prosser. MARTINEZ 7 MARTINEZ: Man and woman in a very ordinary musical act. Introduce mandolin and guitar, xylophones, trombone, and banjos. None of their work is really above very ordinary. They haven't any style to speak of. Finished this afternoon without a murmer. 11 minutes wood in four. ARTHUR RIGBY: Blackface comedian with monolugue. He was suffering with a very bad throat notwithstanding which he won a lot of laughs and finished very good with his burlesque dance. I believe that as soon as he gets in condition he will work out very satisfactorily. 13 minutes olio in one. JULIE RING & CO. Sketch, "The Wrong Room" Two men, one woman. A work of but ordinary merit, long drawn out and notv making much of an impression at any time. None of the work seemed to catch on and the act made quite a depression in the bill. Finished but fair. Met the fate that most sketches do here. 16 minutes C. D. F. MAX WITTS SINGING COLLEENS: Four women who sing very well and who made a hit of very fair proportions. The solo work did not seem to be of the strongest order but the ensemble was very good and the act all in all must be credited with success. Finished very well. 12 minutes terrace in one. JAMES & SADIE LEONARD & RICHARD ANDERSON in a Roman Travesty, "When Caesar Sees Her. For an act of this style it is one of the best things we have seen here for a long time. -- It affords many a laugh all of which were deserved. No fault could be found with the manner in which the act is presented and it gave the bill a decided lift. It is away from the usual thing in comedy and went big from the entrance of the first character to the finish. Took a couple of calls at the finish. 17 minutes special set in three. BESSIE WYNN: Advance applause and reception when she appeared. Miss Wynn made good all of the time and was the hit of the bill. She is as dainty and clever as ever and really seems to be a favorite here. To be a favorite here is really a distinction not bestowed on many for the rule seems to be to forget a person between one engagement and another. If the bill has any drawing power I think she will be the magnet. 22 minutes in one. WILTON BROTHERS: Comedy bar experts. This is a good act and it made a hit of an unmistakable order this afternoon. Went better than the last time it was here. 8 minutes garden in four. COMMENT: This makes a good show except the work of the opener and Julie Ring. I believe however that it will not prove above fair on drawing power.
