PITTSBURG, PA. GRAND OPERA HOUSE. OCT. 5TH, 08. ROBINSON-PARQUETTE TRIO-Colored singing and dancing act. 15 min. 3 shows Alright for three a day. MARJORIE BARRETT-10 minutes, olio.Singing, dancing and imitations. Does very well in the early section of the three a days. LOUIS GUERTIN- 10 minutes, wood, 3 shows. High and broad jumper. Very good-in fact good enough for eight o'clock on any bill. LUCY CLARK-10 minutes, olio. If Miss Clark was getting $100 she would be well paid. She is not doing well for us. RAVEN TRIO - 11 minutes, wood. Novelty Equilibrists. This is a very good act and is going very well with us. GIBSON GIRLS-13 minutes, Palace. In my opinion this act should have been closed the first week. When the price is considered it is undoubtedly the biggest bunk we have every played. The stage management of the act is bad, the girls are anything but good looking, the costumes are not attractive, and there isn't any one in the act who can sing. Aside from the above, the act is alright. PAUL BARNES-Monologue and singing in one. 15 minutes. This is Mr. Barnes third appearance in this house and he is a bigger hit on this visit than ever before. He has a lot of new stuff and is the hit of the bill this week. DE BIERE-Magic and illusions. 17 minutes, palace. A very good act, well dressed and very much on the order of Golden. I consider several tricks of De Biere much better than anything Golden had but Golden, of course, is a much more clever worker. However, De Biere will cause considerable talk and I am sorry I didn't make him the headliner instead of the bunk Gibson act. MELLVILLE ELLIS-13 minutes in one, olio. Mr. Ellis is not nearly as good as on his last visit here. While his work at the piano is very good, I do not consider him worth anything like the salary he is getting and I am sure I would not play him a return. JOHN T KELLY & CO.-25 min. Interior. In "One Best Bet". A bad act that gets a few laughs, played by a very bad company, which includes the star, who comes very nearly being the worst in the cast. DUFFIN REDCAY TROUPE- Aerial bar act. 12 minutes, garden. Among the best in their line-always go well with us. John [R?]. Harris. EMPIRE COMEDY FOUR-17 minutes, street. The comedy in this act is far above the average; the singing very good. It is one of the best comedy fours we have played.
