NED S. HASTINGS. CLEVELAND? O. Oct. 12, 1908. CUNNINGHAM and MARION 2 men. In 2. time, 12. Talking and acrobatic comedians. Talk, fair. Some new tumbling. A good opener. THE SINGING KEMPS. In 1. Man and woman (coons). Man great dancer. Comedy good and quiet. They get away from "coon shouting", and have pleasing voices. Close in 2, special back drop "tropical." Total time 16. BESSIE BRENNAN In 1. Time, 13. Coon songs and dialect readings. Miss Brennan is dainty, has a pleasing personality and in a sweet voice, but she hardly displays enough professional training to go well before a critical audience. This is her home, and her firnds in the audience made plenty of noise. BOBBY PANDUR and BROTHER. F.S. After a little commonplace tumbling and hand walking, Pandur poses on a revolving pedestal and gives a muscle exhibition. The work is neat and attractive, and while Pandur wears less than Salome ever dared to omit, there is nothing objectionable. Time 16. LEW SULLY. In 1. Time 17. In comedy make-up. Songs, nonsensical, but very funny and well done. Audience screaming. Whistling and piano "rag" specialties took well. One of the big hits of the afternoon. "TOO MUCH SYMPATHY" C.D.F. Time, 17. 3 men, 1 woman. The sketch is "orful", impossible and the pathetic touches are a scream. Miss Clement's excellent Dutch dialect is the only good thing about it. Can't see how it got this far west. EMPIRE COMEDY FOUR. In 1. Time, 16. 3 comedy make-up, 1 straight. Although they can sing well, they do very little straight singing, overloading the act with comedy, which is good and scored three encores Monday afternoon. "THE PATRIOT" Special Interior in 5. 5 men, 1 woman. This is a real opera, with no spoken dialogue, every utterance being sung. The voices are all excellent, including Antoinette le Brun, Huntington May and James Stevens, as principals. The music is beautiful, inspiring and plays about patriotic themes. The story told is of a girl's sacrifice of her life to save Washington from an assassin's knife. Undoubtedly the most thoroughly artistic offering we have ever played here. The people like it and are talking about it pretty generally about the city. THE KINETOGRAPH.
