REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF OCTOBER 19th, 1908. Chas. Lovenberg, Manager. The bill this week is the most satisfactory we have had this season. It plays evenly throughout and the general make-up is not hampered by an expensive headline act to the detriment of the entire program. The Clevelands Man and woman in some very clever comic songs which they sing very well indeed. At the price paid it is a valuable act for the smaller two-a-day houses and for the three show section of the bigger houses. 15 Min in One, 3 shows. Graham & Lawrence Two young fellows in a clever dancing act. Another great value for the money. 10 Min. in One, 3 shows. Robin Comedy juggler. Alright in the 3-a-day section. 12 Min. F. S. 3 shows. Slater, Perrin & Crosby Two men and a woman, colored. One impersonates a chinaman. The woman is especially clever, the Chinaman good and the straight man inferior. Good three-a-day act, however, somewhat of a novelty for a coon act. Carry their own drop in One. 13 Min. 3 shows. Ina Claire Young girl, imitations of celebrities. Very clever. 14 Min. in One, 3 shows. [Alva?] Billed as "The Female Conchas". I was rather surprised at this act after all the knocking it got in New York. Of course this woman is not as good as Conchas or Spadoni but she is a woman and gets less than half their salary. The act is decidedly novel and it is quite remarkable to see a woman - and one really small in stature - doing this very heavy work. She can play in any show in the world up to 8.30 and could be made a feature in the smaller cities. She worked to good applause today and I see no reason why she shouldn't be played generally. 12 Min. F. S. 2 shows. James F. McDonald Songs and stories. McDonald has a good personality, sings his songs well and pleased the audience thoroughly. 18 Min. in One. 2 shows. Abdul Kader & His Three Wives. Well-known act which seemed to please this afternoon, but they should be depended upon more for their outside advertising than for what they do on the stage. 15 Min. F. S. two shows. Lyons & Parks Two boys, harp playing, singing and dancing. A decided hit. 11 Min. in One, 2 shows. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Barry Somehow or other these people never seem to quite land in this house and today was no better than usual. 20 Min. Open F. S., close in One, 2 shows. Willa Holt Wakefield The hit of the show. 14 Min. in One, 2 shows. Lasky's "The Devil" One of the best dramatic acts ever played in the house and which should draw money anywhere. Well played and well mounted. 20 Min. F. S. 2 shows. Elinore Sisters Usual big hit. 23 Min. in One, 2 shows. Paulinetti & Piquo Acrobatic comedy, introducing some of the Collins & Hart style of work. Held this place satisfactorily. Earlier in the bill should be a big hit. 12 Min. F. S. 2 shows. Motion Pictures O.K.
