Report on Columbus Show week Oct 26th. --08. W. W. Prosser. LOUIS GUERTIN: Athlete and jumper. -- A very interesting small act. The real merit of the work of this man seems to escape many who see him. He was well received however and proved acceptable in the opening position. His finish was but fairly strong. 10 minutes garden in 4. AMERICAN QUINTET: Four young men and a girl who sing fairly well. There is an attempt at comedy in their talk but it did not seem to hit them very hard. Thr vocal work is satisfactory and generally speaking the act is composed of high and low spots about evenly distributed. Landscape 19 minutes in one. EDGAR ALLEN & CO. "Sketch "A Fortune Hunters Misfortune" A comedy act of exaggerated type telling the story of rivals for the hand of a young American woman, the opponents being a young American and a French nobleman. -- There were a number of laughs scattered along the way but nothing about the act that really went heavily. The duel at the finish is quite well done but at the curtain there was little or no demonstration. -- At this time it looks like the weak spot on the bill but this may be prove to be a mistake. 25 minutes Oak Set in 3. SEARL ALLEN & CO. in "The Tarveling Man." This act won a lot of laughs and although it does not contain the same people as last tear the change did not seem to work any hardship. There were a lot of laughs and the work is all quick and to the point. All the scenery is new and it adds quite a bit to the act. 14 minutes in one. MABEL McKINLEY: She was the hit of the bill up to this point. all of her songs were favorably received and for a single woman act she compares very favorably with anything we have had for a long time. 14 minutes C. D. F. NIBLO'S TALKING BIRDS: A very unique act that took the house by storm. -- Here is a real novelty and one that should create a lot favorable comment. -- The two parrots are wonders at least this seemed to be the general verdict of the house. 11 minutes in one. PAULINE: Hypnotist. -- This man got as many laughs in the same space of time as anything we ever had in the house. -- In addition to this the audience seemed to be thoroughly interested in his serious work. A most distinct hit and an act that I trust will bring business. Palace 35 minutes. PICTURES: O. K.
