Boston Show, Week of Nov. 30, 1908. Carl D. Lothrop. (Monday, Nov. 30th--Evening Show.) Roberti's Animals. On at 7.12, 13 minutes full stage. A rattling good animal act. A find at the figure. His bears, dogs, ponies and monkeys all look well and work well. Good enough to open any show in America, and a closing feature for seventy percent of the houses. XX1 Overture. 7.25, 7 minutes. Al Carleton. On at 7.32, 12 minutes in one. A very hard place for Carleton, but he did as well as could be expected. He started a trifle slowly, but finished very well indeed. About the best bunch of stuff he has ever delivered here. Could do more time if needed. XX Sam Curtis and Company. On at 7.44, 24 minutes full stage, 6 minutes close in one, 30 minutes in all. Curtis is giving good value for his money. Could hold a spot at 8.30 in this house without any trouble. In the smaller houses his act should be a riot. He has an excellent supporting company, particularly Miss Day and Miss Kent. XX1 Ryan and White. On at 8.14, 9 minutes in one. These two boys are as good a dancing duo as we have to-day. Make a splendid appearance and they certainly can dance. Can hold a good spot on any bill. XX1 6 Musical Cuttys. On at 8.23, 8 minutes full stage, 4 minutes close in one, 12 minutes in all. One of the men of this act met with an unfortunate accident here this morning, falling through an open trap, and severely injuring his left hip and wrist. It is doubtful if he will be able to work this week. This is a severe handicap to the act, forcing them to change their programme and cutting their time down from 6 to 8 minutes. Despite the handicap they scored heavily. The best instrumental act in vaudeville to-day when in shape. XX1 Scott and Wright. On at 8.35, 23 minutes full stage. Their sketch, "The Wall Between," is one of the da[i]ntiest and prettiest numbers in vaudeville to-day. It is almost unnecessary to state that they are one of the hits of the bill. XX1 Rock and Fulton. On at 8.58, open 4 minutes in one, 13 minutes full stage, 6 minutes close in one, 22 minutes in all. A solid success. Another great big hit. They are not doing either the "Devil" dance, or the "Apache" dance here, as I do not think our audiences would care for them, although I consider both artistic bits. XX1 to closing spot in this house. Marcel's Living Art Studies. On at 9.49, 20 minutes full stage. This is not an ideal closing feature, but I felt we could afford to sacrifice it better than Lindsay, or Rock and Fulton, particularly as it is here for two weeks. There is no gain-saying the fact that it is a beautiful production, although Marcel is an absolutely impossible proposition, and he has with him a most incompetent bunch of stage people. It would be a blessing if some way could be found to put the act in the hands of a responsible party and put Marcel in restraint, for if ever there was a fit subject for a "bug-house", he is it. XX1 Kinetograph. On at 10.09. "A Basket Party."--A very good comic. "Bear Hunting"--Extremely interesting. "Parisian Life in Miniature."--A fairly good comedy novelty. Comment. An extremely good show, but a very hard one to blend and play. Would undoubtedly run much smoother, without either Scott and Wright, Rock and Fulton, or Fred Lindsay, provided that we had another A 1 act in one. As it is we have a plethora of full stage material.
