REPORT ON PROVIDENCE SHOW, WEEK OF [DEC.?] 7, 1908 Charles [Lovenberg?], Manager. A corking good show, which played splendidly this afternoon and when re-arranged as before should go like wild-fire. Webster & Carleton A man and woman in a rural comedy sketch, a very sad affair. 15 Min. F. S. 3 shows. Jack & Bertha Rich Young fellow and a girl in a regulation singing and dancing act. 11 Min. in One 3 shows. Juggling Barretts Well-known act which seems to be somewhat improved, altho it contains two performers where it formerly had three. If these men would clean up and present their set in little better fashion it would be good enough for a two-a-day spot in any house. 11 Min. F. S. 3 shows Billy Court Scotch comedian. This fellow has [cribbed?] two of Lawdor's characters, [vedily?], line for line, and I must admit that he has done it very well. He pleased decidedly in this spot. Very good for the money. 19 Min. in One, 2 shows. Verona Verdi [Violiniste?] and one of the best of the lady [violinistes,?], who this year brings along her little brother who also plays the violin. As a whole a very pleasing act which scored strongly. 15 Min. in One, [3?] shows. Harry LeClair Well-known burlesque female impersonator who made his entrance to strong advance applause and after twenty-one minites of entertainment that pleased decidedly was given a couple of strong recalls. Open F. S. close five minutes in One, 2 shows. Brothers Phillipi splendid acrobatic and hand-balancing act which made a good an impression here as it has in other cities. 10 Min. open F. S. close in One, 2 shows. Three Leightons Three men one straight, one eccentric and one blackface, comedy, singing and dancing, the latter exceptionally good. Finished to strong applause. 18 Min. five minutes of which is in one. Open F. S. 2 shows. [Angelu?] Dolores & Co. Comedy dramatic sketch, "Cupid At Home". A popular theme, well written and well played, especially by Miss Dolores' leading support and she herself is very attractive and able. An act decidedly worth playing anywhere. 18 Min. F. S. 2 shows. The Lady of the Green Veil This is a woman with a grand opera voice, a discovery of mine, or rather a woman who came to me to look for bookings and I adopted this method of presenting her, - that is, as a mysterious singer appearing incognito. In our advertising we have led the public to believe that she is possibly a grand opera prima donna who needed the money but did not want her name identified with vaudeville or a society woman who did not want her set to know of her professional appearance. Then, too, we have had them guessing in circulating the rumor that she was a well-known vocalist who is appearing incognito on a wager that one does not need a name or reputation if one has "the goods" in vaudeville, where merit alone is appreciated, et cetera. She goes to and from the theatre in a carriage, heavily veiled, has her meals in her rooms at the hotel, a secretary, et cetera, et cetera. Will carry her own musical director also for the same reason as well as to make possible the correct playing of her very difficult music. Artistically she proved today to be a great success. She appeared in the afternoon at [4.20?] following the Ellis [Nowlin?] Troupe in "A Night At the Circus" and was almost... ....the money paid. 18 Min. in One, 2 shows. Winston's Seals same excellent act given [illegible] on previous occasions. 15 Min. F. S. 2 shows. Motion Pictures O.K.
