Boston Show Week October 4, 09. R. G. Larsen. Monday afternoon October 4. Overture. On at 1:45, 5 minutes. Four Allegros. On at 1:50, 16 minutes full stage. This is a rather elaborate German musical act, four men, playing all sorts of instruments, including one of the largest sets of chimes that has ever been staged. They have the material for a good musical act but unfortunately have not quite caught the American idea. This afternoon the routine of the act was a bit faulty. With changes to-night it should get by in very good shape. Later, it did. Arthur Cameron. On at 2:06, 11 minutes in one. This young man singing English nonsense songs has been held over for another week, and with an almost entirely new program went very much better this afternoon than he did last week, in fact, managed to get by with a bow. Gartelle Brothers. On at 2:17, 10 minutes with 2 minutes close in one. This is a roller skating comedy act which succeeded in getting a good many laughs here this afternoon, waking up the audience in good shape. Sullivan-Pasquelina Company. On at 2:27, with "A C. O. D. Package." Open in one and full stage and closed with 3 minutes in one. 21 minutes in all. This act held down the spot in pretty good shape although it was rather weak in places, and too long drawn out. The finish was very good. Sarasa. On at 2:48, 16 minutes in one. This young boy violinist played here for the first time and certainly made a hit this afternoon. He has personality, magnetism, and can play, and his finish is in the nature of a knockout. Cressy & Dayne. On at 3:04, 23 minutes full stage, they played "Grasping the Opportunity," the first time in about ten years here and it was the hit of their three weeks engagement; the stage setting was pretty with plenty of atmosphere, and Cressy as a 'selectman' was at his best. In fact, it is so long since the sketch was played here that it was practically new, and it will make a big feature for the closing week. -2- Boston Show Week of October 4, 09. Monday afternoon October 4th. R. G. Larsen Belle Blanche. On at 3:27, 18 minutes in one. As big a hit with us as ever, and it can always be said in her favor that she has new material when she plays return engagements. Albert Whelan. On at 3:45, 20 minutes full stage, following Belle Blanche with imitations and after the impression that she had made it is safe to say that Whelan could follow anything. He got the audience and from the moment he appeared it was a hit every minute. Rooney & Bent. On at 4:05, 16 minutes in 1-1/2, playing "At the Stand." this is a rather hard place for an act of this kind and it opened a little slow but Rooney got the crowd strong with his dancing. Annette Kellermann. On at 4:21, opened with diabolo and the full stage for diving 9 minutes in all. Evidently as big a feature as ever. We sold out the house this afternoon and the advance is big. We have been plugging her in pretty good shape and this afternoon everybody waited for the close. Kinetograph. On at 4:35, "The Peach Basket Hat" one of the best comics we have had lately. Comment. The show as a whole lacked a little bit in variety but it got a good start early in the afternoon and for a Monday there was unusual applause all through it.
