REPORT ON COLUMBIA SHOW FOR WEEK JANUARY 16, 1911. W. W. PROSSER. EMILIE LEA & THE LUCIFERS: Acrobatic dancing and comedy acrobatic work by two women and a man. The girls are nice looking and their work is well executed. The man is a very good acrobatic comedian, and the act in its entirety is worth while. There was scattered applause throughout and the finish was moderately strong. 18 minutes, palace in 4, finish in 1. LEWIS & [HARR?]: In a negro comedy skit, "Along the Suwanee River". Two men, one woman,-a darky boy, old man and mammy. A good line of comedy talk, which won a lot of laughs. Southern melodies are introduced by the three with banjo and guitar accompaniment. Just a smattering of dancing by the boy. They have a very pretty special set which adds greatly to the merit of the act. Went well throughout and finished moderately strong. 24 minutes, special set in 5. MARSHALL MONTGOMERY: A most excellent ventriloquist who uses one figure,-a boy. All of his work is very fine and it scored heavily. His whistling finish was a big surprise and made a genuine hit. A thorough success throughout. 20 minutes, olio in 1. ROBLEDILLO: This wire wizard had everything his own way, scoring heavily from beginning to end and finishing strong. He certainly is a wonder. 8 minutes, garden in 4. BESSIE WYNN: In a new repertoire of songs with which she made a very favorable impression. Was accorded a reception upon her entrance and had no trouble in holding them all the way through. Finished very strong with her "Oc! Oc!" song. 21 minutes, olio in 1. SIMON & SHIELDS CO.: Presenting "High Life in Jail". Six men in the act. Scene is the interior of a prison. There are a lot of good comedy lines but in spots the act is a little tiresome. Generally speaking, it went very well. The whole thing is a satire on prison life, the participants being ex-bankers, magnets of various kind, etc. A moderately strong finish. Special set in 4, 22 minutes. DOOLEY & SAYLES: The laughing hit of the bill. They have quite a bit of new material, all of which went well, proving themselves decidedly popular. Finished strong. 25 minutes, street in 1. JACK & VIOLET KELLY: Australian Stock Whip Experts. This is a very good act, which held attention throughout. They perform a number of very interesting and apparently difficult stunts, each of which won applause. The finish was moderately strong. Special set in 5, 13 minutes. MOVING PICTURE: O. K. NOTE: The show is too long and will have to be cut at least 20 minutes to keep it from dragging.
