Report on Columbus Show Week March 17, 1913 W.W. Presser. The Three Arthurs: One man and two women. Bicycle Equilibrists. Very neat number, which impressed favorably, and which, while not really extraordinary in any way, in have good satisfaction as an opener. Scattered applause and a fairly strong finish. Garden in 5, 9 minutes. (Toledo) Alexander & Scott: Two men, one working straight and the other impersonating a woman. The act consists of songs. Went fairly well throughout, the "surprise" finish being entirely unlooked for and rounding out a strong finish. Olio in 1, 13 minutes. (Philadelphia) Bert Melrose: Excellent pantomime artist who won plenty of laughter, and, in fact, went big throughout. His work with tables and chairs is very funny and he had no trouble in holding undivided attention. Finished strong. Rocky Pass in 4, 20 minutes. (Cleveland) Ashley & Lee: Two men in "Chinatown", the old act of Matthews and Ashley. The early part of the act didnot fare very well, in fact there was not much doing until the finish of parodies was reached. They livened up nicely here, and finally scored a good, substantial hit. Special and street in 1, 19 min. (New York) Eva Taylor & Co: Two men and two women in a farce, "After The Wedding". Quite an improbable offering, but a good laughing number, capably presented. The action is fast and there is no time lost during the presentation. Held interest throughout and finished moderately strong. Light Fancy in 2 1/2, 15 min. (Cleveland) Willa Holy Wakefield: The Same artistic, high class lady as before. Her method is faultless and she has an inimitable manner of putting her material over. Went well throughout and finished strong. A credit to any bill. Ohio in 1, 16 min. (Open) Three Emersons: Three men, "European Novelty Entertainers". A fine line of head-and-head balancing and spring-board stunts. Any number of very excellent tricks, each of which won applause. The comedian is rather poor, but the work of the other two thoroughly compensates for his short-comings. Finished strong. Special in 4, 8 min. (Cleveland) Pathe Weekly: O.K.
